Paint (Oil)

STAIN: Usually built-up and stiff

CONTAINS: Pigments, drying oils, resins, gums, volatile solvents

Check the label on the paint for specific thinner or solvent OR

  • Apply dry cleaning solvent.
  • Apply POG, blot.
  • Apply dry cleaning solvent and blot.
  • Alternate steps 2 and 3 until the stain is removed.
  • If the stain persists, weigh down the stain with towels dampened with dry cleaning solvent for several hours to loosen and blot with solvent.
  • Apply several drops of detergent solution and work into the stain and blot.
  • Apply ammonia solution and blot.
  • Alternate steps 2, 3, and 6 until the stain is removed.
  • Rinse thoroughly with warm water and blot until dry.
